Miami-Dade Parks presents over 100 arts and culture events annually. From arts education programs for children to classes for adults to performing with the Community Band to free concerts in the park, Miami-Dade Parks offers something for everyone. Arts Education
Within Miami-Dade Parks, the Division of Arts and Culture manages two of the County's leading arts education facilities, African Heritage Cultural Arts Center and Raices Cultural Arts Center.
Each facility offers after school arts programs, summer arts camps and recess camps during the winter and spring breaks.
Classes are also available for adults in painting, knitting, tai chi and more at African Heritage Cultural Arts Center, Raices Cultural Arts Center and Women's Park. Call the park for more information.
Miami-Dade Parks Community Band:
Every Monday night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., join the members of the Miami-Dade Parks Community Band during rehearsal. Whether you are a beginner, haven't picked up your instrument in a while, or a seasoned professional, bring your talent to the band. This volunteer group plays at area parks and special events.
Under the direction of Melton R. Mustafa, the Miami-Dade Parks Community Band is comprised of members ages 16 - 80, and includes husbands and wives, fathers and sons, brothers and sisters. Housed at African Heritage Cultural Arts Center, the band represents the rich cultural heritage found in South Florida.
